BE WILLING AND OBEDIENT
MAIN TEXT: ISAIAH 1:19 – If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land;
1 SAMUEL 15:22 – “To obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams”
When our attitudes and actions line up with this scripture, we are promised to eat of the good of the land. Then, people lived in agricultural society in which many people were farmers or shepherds. So they understood what it meant to eat the good of the land. To them, it meant they would partake of the good things in life. For us today, it means having such things as financial abundance, good health, good relationships, influence, deliverance and peace of mind.
Recall the biblical account of the boy Samuel, who as a child heard the voice of the Lord and replied, “Speak; for thy servant heareth” (1 Samuel 3:10). From that day Samuel walked in obedience to the commandments of God and became the great prophet of Israel. He was who selected and ordained both King Saul and King David. His obedience to God made him the maker of Kings.
