DEATH IN THE POT

MAIN TEXT: 2 Kings 4:40 ‘’The stew was poured out for the men to eat, but as they began to eat it, they cried out, O man of God, there is death in the pot’’, and they could not eat it.’’

2 Kings 4:41 ‘’Elisha said, ‘’get some flour.’’ He put it into the pot and said, ‘Serve it to the people to eat.’’ And there was nothing harmful in the pot.

Two reasons God allows challenges in the believers’ life are to test and train us. Death in the pot represents challenges we encounter as leaders in the house of God. Elijah did not send that man on any errand to the bush, but he did not let him die in the problem either. Prophet Elijah stood with him until a solution was found. He knew and understood his role towards his followers. They were bound to commit errors, and it was his duty to correct, rebuke or encourage them as the situation warranted.

As a leader, no matter your level, you have a responsibility to shepherd God’s flock. When issues arise, try as much as you can to proffer solutions to them. Do not betray or sell out on those you are leading, you are their covering. Your words and action carry weight and can influence them in ways you cannot imagine. Exercise faith in the power of God within you and face the situation. Do not run from it.

You are positioned to bring light into people’s lives. Do your best under any circumstance to alleviate pain and grief from others. When you must have done your best, thrust the rest into God’s hands. In stormy times, take a stand and face them, God will stand with you and lead you into victory.

YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD AND THE SALT OF THE EARTH

PRAYER: I stand and declare that I will be a light for others to see and salt to add taste to their lives in Jesus name
