THE RIGHT THINKING

MAIN TEXT: PHILIPPIANS 4:8
Summing it all up, friends I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and understanding on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious –the best, not the worse; the beautiful, not the ugly, things of praise, not things of curse.

PROVERBS 23:7
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee: but his heart is not with thee.

One of the wonders of God’s creation in man is the mind. He gave you the ability to reason, think and take decisions. Your mind is like a field and there are major players; your spirit, which is you, the Spirit of God and the devil. Whichever one you allow dominating the field of your mind determines the way you will live your life. Proverbs 23:7b makes us to understand that if you think right, you will live right but, if you think wrongly, negative or evil, then evil things will come your way and from you.

To think right means to fill, occupy your mind or meditate on godly things. This is why the Apostle Paul is advising in Philippians 4:6 which is our main text today, that you should fill your mind with the thoughts of good and godly things. Think only about things that can edify God, you, the body of Christ and the society, things that can build your spiritual, physical and financial life.

It is important to have the mind of Christ because His thought for you are the thought of good, not of evil. The secret of righteous living is thinking right. Right-thinking makes for a holy living, and it brings about healing, but wrong thinking brings about death (Romans 8:6-7). Therefore, let the peace of Christ rule your heart. Turn your eyes from worthless things, rather turn them to worthy things. Keep thinking of things above not things on earth and as you do so, the Lord will bless you exceedingly. Amen!

CHOOSE TO THINK AND LIVE RIGHT TODAY

PRAYER: I reject every evil thought and imagination, may my heart be filled with honorable things and God’s goodness in Jesus’ name. Amen!
