DELIGHT IN GOD’S WORD
MAIN TEXT – Psalm 119:125 – I am your servant; give me understanding, that I may know your testimonies
PSALM 1:1 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers.
To be delighted in the word of God is to take pleasure in God’s word, to be bent or inclined towards God’s word. It means to cherish and to be favorably disposed towards the word of God. The word of God should be loved and desired.
A believer should find God’s word pleasurable, attractive, and delightful and should be sought for to give us life. We should crave the word, the word of God should be the source of our excitement. Blessed is the man that fears the lord that delights greatly in his commandments, his seeds shall be mighty upon the earth. Wealth and riches shall be in his house, and his righteousness shall endure forever. What a benefit we derive from delighting in God’s words.
The word of God is like a two-edged sword that puts problems asunder. There is a word from God for every difficulty that comes on our way. When you speak the right word of God to that issue, it will surely give solutions. To be like a tree planted by the water, you must delight in the word of God. To bring your fruit at the right season, you must delight in the word of God.
LET GOD’S VOICE GIVE YOU JOY
PRAYER: O God, give me the right word for every issue that I face. Make my ears be opened to receive divine instructions in Jesus name, Amen.
