CONQUERING THE FEAR OF DEATH

Conquering the Fear of Death

Main Text: John 11:25

“He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live”.

Philippians 1:23 – “I am hard pressed between the two (dying and living) having a desire to depart and be with Christ which is far better.

There is a popular song that says “Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die”. Apart from few examples in the Bible of Enoch and Elijah nobody went to heaven without dying. The reason for this is because we are afraid and are not ready to die.

We can prepare spiritually and emotionally for Jesus tells us that “He is the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, though he die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me, though he die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall not die’’ (John 11:25-26). When you put your trust in Jesus, death is not the end of you but the beginning of the best of you.

You can prepare through your relationship with people. By letting the key people in your life know how much you care and love them on a regular basis. You must forgive anyone who has hurt you and seek their forgiveness if you hurt them (Mk 11:25-26).

DEATH IS NOT A PUNISHMENT TO THE CHRISTIAN BUT A TRANSITION TO GLORY

PRAYER:

May our inevitable transition to eternity be peaceful. Lord send your angels to usher us into your presence in Jesus Name, Amen.
