LOVE AS I HAVE LOVED

MAIN TEXT: John 15:12

This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”

Romans 12:10 – “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honour giving preference to one another”.

Loving one another according to Apostle John is the proof that we have been truly born again (1 John 3:14). It is not achoice but a command from our Lord Jesus. The command “love as I have loved ” means that Jesus wants us to follow His own pattern of love. His pattern of love is clearly seen in God’s giving His Son to die for us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8).

This is possible because we have been grafted into the life and love of Christ. For this reason, we are all expected to love our brethren just as we are loved. This kind of love involves laying aside status and rank, prestige and privilege, to take the form of servants just like Jesus Christ. Jesus spent larger part of His ministry going from place to place, doing good, and liberating men from suffering.

Therefore beloved, if you desire to succeed this year; determine to follow Christ’s pattern. In line with our inside text, we are truly His disciples when we meet the needs of others by also relieving their hunger, thirst , nakedness, and loneliness etc. Go low in foot washing – like rendering services to one another as Jesus did. And by this others will see His love in us and recognise the source. ……JESUS CHRIST

OUR LOVE MUST BE DIFFERENT FROM THE LOVE OF THE WORLD SO THAT CHRIST WILL BE SEEN AND GLORIFIED.

PRAYER:

O LORD MY FATHER GIVE ME A FRESH GRACE TO LOVE OTHERS AS JESUS COMMANDED!
