LIFE OF TRANSPARENCY
Main Text: Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.(NKJV)
1 John 1:5-6: This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
The word “transparent” means to allow light pass through so that objects behind can be distinctly seen. From our main text, Jesus enjoins us to live a life of transparency. He encourages us not to hide our light rather we should let it shine before all men. Let them see our good works so as to glorify our Father in heaven. Let them see through us to the Father who stands behind us. Jesus was transparent in everything that He did. His goal was that we would see the Father right through Him. Jesus being our model, we ought to follow in his footsteps rather than live a double standard life. Joseph lived a life of transparency as he was working in Potiphar.s house. Even when he was faced with temptation, he still stood firm and this earned him a great position in Egypt. Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself with the king.s meat and wine but rather show forth his light and he obtained favour from God. When we allow people to see Jesus through our lifestyle, soul winning becomes easy. As we live our lives in front of those who do not know Jesus, going through the same trials and temptations as they do, but not bowing to
the pressure of the moment, not bending under financial woes, and having peace even in the midst of storm, this is the time of our greatest triumph. It becomes an opportunity to share Jesus in the midst of the hurting. I pray today that people will see Jesus through us as they look at us, in Jesus name.
