THE WORD – OUR ROUTINE DRUG

THE WORD – OUR ROUTINE DRUG

MAIN TEXT: Joshua 1:8

“Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth, Meditate on it day and night so that you can be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”

Proverbs 3:1-2 – My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

In the years past, “Daraprim” was regarded as a routine drug against malaria because it was regarded as the „sunday/sunday. medicine. From our main text above, God instructed Joshua to meditate on His Word – day and night in order that he may be healthy and prosperous.

Many of us believers think that prosperity, health and success come from having power, influential personal contacts and a relentless desire to get ahead. But in the above verse God advised Joshua to meditate day and night on His word in order to be healthy and prosperous.

Further in Prov. 4:22-23 the Bible teaches that effective living requires moral application- trusting in God and His word- and allowing His word to speak to us personally as we meditate on it and being willing to obey the word. Here He makes it clear that God.s word is life to those who find it and health to a man.s
whole body.

Of course we have no doubt about the efficacy of the Word of God in our life for God had told us that His word will accomplish His desire and achieve whatever purpose for which He sent it (Is.55:11). It is also living and active sharper than a two- edge sword (Heb 4:12) Beloved, there is every need for us to take Gods Word as a routine drug- meditating on it day and night. Only then can we be healthy- body, soul and spirit- and find good success.

Prayer:- May the grace of Lord Jesus Christ increase our awareness of the power of His word Amen.
