THE CHAMPION OF THE CROSS
MAIN TEXT: COLOSSIANS 1:19-20 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. (NIV)
GALATIANS 4:4-5 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption of sonship. (NIV)
Who is a champion? A champion is a person who voluntarily takes extraordinary interest in the adoption, implementation and success of a cause. What is this cause? It is the reconciliation of man with God. It is the redemption of man from everlasting death. Among all men that stood between God and man, Jesus Christ is the ultimate champion. All of them made atonement by blood of animals that merely covered the sins of men. None of them went to the cross; none sacrificed his life for the sake of mankind. None of them died and rose again. Jesus Christ is the Champion of the cross because he made us alive.
We were spiritually dead because of our sins and uncircumcision of our flesh and as such man could not see himself as a sinner and one who needed a saviour. He is the champion because he paid the debt of sin by nailing our sins to the cross and for this reason peace was achieved (Col. 1: 20). Jesus defeated all spiritual powers that opposed God by his death on the cross. Jesus is the champion of the cross because he defeated death, hell and the grave for our salvation. Beloved of God, do you know this champion one-on-one? Make haste today to make and keep him as your technical Adviser for he had gone through what you are going through and knows everything so that he can release to you the wisdom and power (the Holy Spirit) you need to go through the journey of life and be a winner. Life without Jesus is a failure life and I know you don’t want to fail.
