EXAMINE YOUR GARMENT
MAIN TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 13:5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? – Unless indeed you fail to meet the test.
ZECHARIAH 3: 3-4 Now Joshua was dressed in filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. The angel said to those who were standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes”.
God is holy, righteous, and perfect. He is without spots or wrinkles. He created man in his image and likeness. That is to say that you are made to be holy, without spots or wrinkles just like God your Father. Garment is used here to mean; your standing with God. To examine your garment means to take stock of your life. This means that you should take a look at your life so as to know what your relationship with God is like. It is important to determine whether your garment (your righteousness) has stain (stain refers to sin) or not.
You cannot do this examination without the help of the Holy Spirit because he knows you too well, he doesn’t lie and he is a righteous judge. This examination is very necessary that you do it because peradventure your righteousness has been punctured by sin, it will deny you access to God’s presence to access your blessings. If you examine and find any stain in your life, remember that you have an a senior advocate (Jesus) and a stubborn stain remover (the blood of Jesus), consult your most senior advocate Jesus Christ in prayer and plead his blood for your cleansing. That is why God said, come let us reason together even if your sins are as red as scarlet, that he will make you as white as snow. Access this divine provision and be blessed.
