THE PROFIT OF WISDOM
Main text: Proverbs 1:5 (KJV) – “A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel”
Proverbs 4:7-8 (KJV) – “Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore, get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her and she will promote you; she will bring you honour, when you embrace her”.
Wisdom is exhibited when knowledge and understanding are put to work. Wisdom finds express when accumulated knowledge is put to work. Wisdom comes from God (James 1:5 – If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and unbraideth not; and it shall be given him).
To gain this kind of wisdom, you need to study the word of God (The Bible), read Christian books and Hymns to accumulate knowledge and then, the Holy Spirit will give you understanding. You will profit of wisdom, when you have prepared the ground, that is, when you have studied and acquired knowledge. Devotion to study brings knowledge. A lazy man who is slothful in acquiring knowledge does not flourish in wisdom.
In life, wisdom is needed to help you navigate the mountains and valleys that you will encounter. Being aware that trials and temptations will always come to a Christian therefore, the wisdom from God will direct us. In the midst of the storms and challenges on your way, God directs you in wisdom based on the quantity of the word of God you have in you. The proceeds of wisdom are better than silver and gold.
