THE BLESSINGS IN FORGIVENESS

May Day 22 Wednesday

THE BLESSINGS IN FORGIVENESS

MAIN TEXT: Colossians 3:13- Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any even as Christ forgave you so also do ye.

Matthew 6:14 – For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Forgiveness means the pardon of an offense or crime. Forgiveness can result in great blessing, the first which is eternal life based on God’s forgiveness through Jesus Christ. If we can see the grace of God’s forgiveness, we will understand the pure joy evident in today’s teaching.

The forgiveness of our sin restored us to God and established our relationship with Him. The blessings of forgiveness should impel us to confess our sins but extending forgiveness to others also binds with it great blessings upon the Christian. Jesus teaches us to forgive one another because forgiveness releases us from bondage, and creates room for God’s work to thrive.

When we forgive people that hurt us, it can be a channel to our prayers to be answered. Remember that we did nothing to receive forgiveness from God, it is purely on grace. It is because of Jesus Christ that we are forgiven, so easily forgive people if you desire to grow far.

IF YOU HOLD ANYTHING AGAINST A NEIGHBOUR, YOU HOLD YOURSELF AGAINST GOD.

PRAYER: Father, I ask for the spirit of forgiveness to dwell richly in my life in Jesus name.
