ACTIVATING THE SPIRIT (2)
MAIN TEXT: 2 Timothy 1:6-7
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind
Zechariah 4:6
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, this is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
Bullets are very deadly but they are powerless and useless until they are loaded and fired through the barrels of a gun. It’s the gun that activates the power and potency of the bullet. In like manner, you need to activate your spirit man always so you can experience and maximize the tremendous treasures God has deposited in that part of your being. The anointing, faith, divine wisdom and other spiritual virtues are resident in the spirit of a man. When you are cut off from divine wisdom and revelation, the limitation is in the spirit likewise when you are weak in faith; it’s your spirit that needs to be re-energized.
This can be activated through prayer and fasting; Jude 20 says “But you beloved building up yourself in you most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.”Praying in the spirit causes a flow of virtue between the Holy Spirit and your spirit man. The faith of God is transferred to you and His wisdom also flows into your spirit as a result of praying and fasting.
The prophet Elijah went and stayed in the place of prayer until the spirit was activated, *1Kings 18:46. Do you want to see the hand of the Lord upon you? Then activate it by praying and fasting. Luke 4:14*It is recommended that the average Christian should have a minimum of one day a week to fast.
FASTING DISCIPLINES THE FLESH AND RELEASES THE SPIRIT MAN TO FUNCTION.
Prayer: Lord grant me the grace to be activated in the spirit that sin may not have dominion over me.
