FORGIVE OUR DEBTS
MAIN TEXT: LUKE 15:21 – The son said to him, Father I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.
1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Forgiveness comes when we take responsibility for our wrong actions and confess them before God. Hence we can pray ‘forgive us our debts’. Debts here refer to sins against God and offences against our fellow humans. The Christian journey begins for every man with confessing our sins before God, asking for and receiving forgiveness from our heavenly Father.
We should also confess our faults one to another particularly those we offend. There is no repentance without confession and no forgiveness without repentance. Do not allow fear, doubt or pride rob you of your relationship with God. A young man came to my ministry asking for how God can forgive him after his evil doings as a cultist but I gave him a message of love from Jesus Christ and he accepted the love message of salvation for his soul and immediately he confessed his sins and believed in Christ, till today he is a transformed man living for God.
As soon as you discover that you are working outside God’s will, all you need to do is to stop and make a u-turn to God. There is no procrastination, God is not wicked to watch you perish.
THERE IS NO SIN THAT THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST CANNOT WASH AWAY.
PRAYER – Have mercy upon me Lord and forgive me, give me the heart of flesh and the heart that obeys you.
