Main text: Galatians 3:14 – That upon the Gentiles might come the blessing of Abraham in Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Romans 3:24 – Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Let’s consider the word redemption which simply means rescue upon payment of a ransom. In the context of today’s discussion, there was rescue made by our Lord Jesus Christ and the ransom was the sinless blood of our saviour. This act of love by Jesus Christ justified us freely from death penalty. We were all headed for slaughter and suddenly Christ came on the scene, laid down His life and took our place.
This was promised fulfilled when God told Abraham in Genesis 22 that He will provide for the sacrifice instead of Isaac his son. Jesus Christ paid the price. The message of the cross is the power God to those who are saved – 1 Corinthians 1:18. Abraham encounter with God brought him so many blessings that he did not request or pray for but they were bestowed upon him because of obedience.
Let’s count the blessings – Genesis 12:2-3. ‘I will make you a great nation, I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing, I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed’ – which includes his son, Isaac. God was the one that initiated the bargain and gave His promise. Can you be the Abraham of your family and generation?
