IGNORE EVERY DISTRACTION

.Main text: Luke10:40 – But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.”

Colossians3:2 – Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

In Luke 10:40, we see Martha complaining about her sister, who was busy listening to Jesus. Often in our work with God people engage in all forms of activities which are usually not edifying to the spirit. This has become a very sad trend in our churches today. Christians may be excited about God, but because they have become a product of our digital world, they have a diminished ability to think deeply about Him, to truly know Him as He is.

Many of us are finding that we just can’t stop long enough to read. We can’t sustain our attention long enough to study. We can’t find the time to meet with our Father. Where prayer used to be the first activity of the day, we now begin our daily routine by checking our social media handles.

Even during services, in the presence of God, Christians are carried way with taking pictures, making videos or even been conscious of their dressing and looks. Just glance around your church on a Sunday morning, and you may well notice people sending text messages during worship. The great dangers we face as Christians, with the ever-present distractions in our lives, is that we are quick become a people of shallow thoughts, and shallow thoughts will lead to shallow living. Few of us today have such self-control, such dedication to what matters most.

We must understand that when we appear before earthly dignitaries, we comport our self, but before God we get easily distracted and hence don’t get the best in His presence.  We must begin to consciously take note of His presence without been distracted. This is the only way to enjoy and maximize our daily work with Him and get tremendous results.
