WHO DO YOU SAY I AM ?

Main text: Matthew 16:15– But what about you? He asked, ‘who do you say I am’

Jeremiah 9:24 – But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the LORD, have spoken.

Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he is and they answered him, you are the Christ. Every human being has the knowledge of what God is but not so many people have the personal idea of who God really is. God desires that we move beyond the general knowledge of his existence and move into more meaningful and concrete knowledge of him.

He wants to relate with us on a personal level that is, a level where he identifies us by our name and we identify him as our saviour and Lord – some of us are children of God in passing. Beyond the pastors prayer they cannot assess God because they do not know him.

God is not just a being read about from the Bible and he is not also a being like in fairy tales. God is real untouchable. Until you begin to address God as my father and my God you have not really known him. Your encounter with Christ forms the testimony you have about who God really is.

In other words, your revelation about God is what you will tell people about. Identifying who Christ is to us helps us to establish a relationship and fellowship with him. I want knowledge of who Christ is can also help us to keep and maintain our relationship with God. When you know who God is, you know who you worship and how to worship the right way.

DON’T RELY ON THE TESTIMONIES OF OTHERS ALONE BUT BUILD YOUR TESTIMONY ABOUT YOUR GOD.

Prayer: Father, help me to know you more through the study of your word and my daily fellowship with you.
