BE THE CHRIST TO PEOPLE
MAIN TEXT: Acts 13:47b ‘I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
MATTHEW 5:16 – Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
The main text above concerns you and I as believers of the gospel message. The early followers of Jesus Christ led by the Holy Spirit spread the goodnews across Jerusalem and the rest of the world. They succeeded because they followed the teachings of Jesus Christ. Their Christ like behaviour and relationship to all that knew and heard them earned them the name – CHRISTIANS.
In Mark 16:16, Jesus promised them that whoever believed their teachings and is baptized will be saved and whoever does not believe them will be condemned. In Mark 16:17-18, Jesus gave them power in His name to perform miracles – Jesus Christ authorized His people to use His name anywhere and it will answer to them just like He is.
Brethren, believers of today supposed to have taken over from the past followers of Jesus Christ and carrying out the same functions with power and authority flowing in the name of Jesus Christ. We should preach the gospel around, visit the sick, pray for them and heal them in the name of Jesus Christ. We should encourage them to be strong in the faith so that people will behold the glory of God around us.
