NURTURE YOUR BODY
MAIN TEXT: ROMANS 6:12
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lust thereof. (AKJV)
ROMANS 8:13
For if you live after the flesh, you shall die but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. (AKJV)
Nurture can be said to mean; to care for and protect someone or something while they are growing and developing. As a growing and developing child of God who is still pressing on towards the mark of higher calling, it is very important to nurture your body so that it will not conform to the world. Your body here does not mean only your physical body but also your inner body (spirit).
The Word of God in 2 Corinthians 6:16, says that you are the temple of God. For God to reside in this body, your body has to be cared for and protected from sin which defiles the body. In order to care for the body, you must put on the whole armour of God so that you will be able to protect yourself from the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). This means that you must have the helmet of salvation: You must be born-again. You must guard your heart with the breast plate of righteousness to keep your heart away from evil thoughts and imaginations.
You must gird your loins with the truth of what you have known about Jesus and the cross so that no false prophet or devil will deceive you. Take up the shield of faith with which to stop all the bullets and arrows of Satan. Again, you must have the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God. You must wear the sandal of the Gospel on your feet. Meaning that as you are saved, you must preach Jesus to the unsaved and save them from eternal death. When you train your body to do all these you will find out that you will be a gallant soldier of the cross.
NURTURE YOUR BODY WELL AND GROW INTO A GIANT IN THE LORD
PRAYER: Oh Lord my God, feed me daily with your Word that I may grow in faith and be healthy. Amen!
