FRUITS OF BROKENNESS

MAIN TEXT: Psalms 34:18
“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite Spirit”.

Isaiah 66:2 – “For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exists, says the Lord. But on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of a contrite Spirit, And who trembles at My word”.

Brokenness according to Nancy Leigh Demoss, means the shattering of my self-will so that the life, the Spirit, the fragrance of Jesus maybe released through me. The gospel of John 12:24 says, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit”.
A good gardener knows that only when a seed is planted deep and broken open will new life spring from it.

Though brokenness has many meaning, but brokenness according to God’s perspective means to be broken, crushed and torn in spirit over sin.
King David is a typical example of a man who passed through brokenness as seen in 2 Samuel 12:13 and Psalms 51:7-17. David was broken to the extent that all that mattered to him was just to be clean again, have his ugliness erased, be forgiven and his precious friendship with the Lord restored.

Beloved, determine to yield to God’s rebuke, though brokenness maybe painful, yet it produces glorious fruits. God stripes away our old nature of sin and its stronghold. It brings us into intimate relationship with the Lord and His presence. God restores us and puts His new glory inside our old lives.

HE HEALS THE BROKEN HEARTED AND BANDAGES THEIR WOUNDS

PRAYER: Bring me, Oh Lord to another point of brokenness for my whole heart to desire only you afresh, in JESUS NAME Amen.
