PRAYER WORKS
MAIN TEXT: 1 John 5:14-15 – And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him,”
James 5:16 – The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous men availeth much,”
Acts 12:4-5 says ” And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.
Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him”. James who was the leader of the church was killed by the then evil Government but the church didn’t keep quiet – they prayed.
We are told that that “prayer was made without ceasing…” The word “ceasing” means “to stretch forth”. It is a medical term that refers to a stretched ligament or a pulled muscle. It has the idea of “going beyond the boundaries”. When applied to prayer, it is a picture of fervency. It is the picture of people pouring out their hearts in prayer before the Lord as they seek His face for their needs.
Whenever you feel like praying or to be prayed for, please don’t postponed that divine appointment – it’s God at work so that He can intervene over the issues of your life. Praying persistently is the way out of those challenges.
