BE GRATEFUL TO GOD

MAIN TEXT: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

2 Corinthians 2:14—But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him.

Gratitude to God is a guarantee for an attitude of humility and happiness. It is hard to be grateful and not be full of joy and contentment. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17). It is in our best interest to be reminded that everything we have is a gift from Him. Without gratitude, we become arrogant and self-centered.

We can have thankful hearts toward God even when we do not feel happy about the circumstances. We can grieve and still be thankful to God. Likewise, we can hurt and still be thankful. Furthermore, we can be angry at sin and still be thankful to God. That is what the Bible calls a “sacrifice of praise”. Psalm 106:1 “Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever”.

“Thank you’ is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you, expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding.” — Alice Walker

GRATITUDE TO GOD MAKES ROOM FOR MORE

PRAYER: Thank you, my Lord God for the life that I have. I’m grateful for your works and plans for me, I adore you for the miracles and victory I am yet to receive in Jesus’ name, Amen.
