MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5
DANGERS OF HOLDING GRUDGES
MAIN TEXT: LEVITICUS 19:18 – “You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD”.
Ephesians 4:26-27, “Be angry, and do not sin”; Do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil”.
GRUDGES are not acceptable before God. The Apostle Paul later says in In a very simple way, the scripture above is saying, “Don’t hold on to what makes you angry”. Not forgiving is like drinking rat poison and waiting for the rat to die. A life lived without forgiveness is prison. There will always be situations leading to frustrations and grudges…be prepared through God’s Word to handle it maturely 1) God forbids grudges because they foster nothing but bitterness and eventually destruction to your soul. Turn to HEBREWS 12:14-15. 2) Besides the reasons above, Apostle Paul said that holdings grudges can give the devil a foothold…something to hold on to and harm your life and destiny. 3) Grudges destroy Relationships. It is impossible to build or repair any relationship when one side will not let go of something the other has done. 4) Grudges destroy you from the inside. When you hold on to grudges, they weigh you down and tear you apart. The irony is that grudges have such power because you give in to it. Instead of holding unto grudges and becoming bitter, hating and being resentful; God has called us to a higher standard of living. You need to forgive those who have wronged you as soon as possible, giving up your rights for revenge. Turn to MARK 11:25.Let go of the poisonous past and live the abundantly beautiful life that Jesus lives in JOHN 10:10.
