DON’T BE DOUBLE-TONGUED
Main Text: Matthew 5: 37, “But let your communication be yea, yea; Nay, nay, for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
James 5:12, “But above all things my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by earth, neither by any other oath, but let your yea be year and nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
In various places, at various times, especially, in our places of work, we are called upon as witnesses to certain issues or may be matters concerning our actions or inactions. We should never allow fear or pressure supersede our decisions or our words.
We should learn to be straight forward in all our dealings with people whether good or bad. Our choices should never be affected by the things people especially the negative minded ones, say to us. We should be able to stand for what we believe and hold fast to the truth because indeed, honesty pays.
We should avoid sitting on the fence, avoid being seen in profane gatherings, avoid associating with negative people. Let politeness never be the reason to lack good judgment especially in matters concerning our superiors as such reduces our integrity and dignity as well as tarnish our reputation.
As Christians, we ought to uphold the image of Christ in everything we do or say. Being double tongued implies that we will lie, and every lie begets another lie to cover it up. But definitely, just as the saying goes , “Everyday for the thief, one day, for the owner”, the day of truth will surely come and every lie will be shamed.
Therefore, there is need to be brave, courageous and hold fast to whatever truth we know because surely, the reward for straight forwardness will come.
STAND FOR THE TRUTH AND LET THE LIGHT OF THE WORD REFLECT IN WHATEVER YOU SAY OR DO.
Prayer Point: Teach me dear Lord to speak the truth at all times and abstain from lies.
