Main Text: Ecclesiastes 5:8, ‘If thou seeth the oppression of the poor and the violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter for he that is higher than the highest regardeth and there be higher than they’.
1 John 3:13, “Marvel not my brethren, if the world hates you”.
In our day-to-day activities, circumstances arise which we are forced to speak against certain “supposed” norms of the environment we find ourselves in by saying the truth. However, as Christians, we ought not to compromise our faith because of the fear of criticism or mockery.
We are supposed to, at all times stand for the truth which reflects the image of Christ in us. We should also bear in mind that people will insult us because of Jesus Christ, but we should never allow Christ to be insulted because of our attitude.
Most times too, we see a lot of wrongs happening which unfortunately might not be in our power to correct, justice being perverted, wrong judgments, oppression, maltreatment, a lot of bad vices and juveniles. In most cases, we are not able to physically do anything to correct those wrongs, but instead of letting our anger cause us to sin by doing something that would displease God, we can convert it to holy anger and call forth the judgment of the Lord to be carried out on such evils.
Even as Christians, persecutions arise when we do our best to live out the life of Christ as we ought to; we become objects of mockery and a laughing stock. This however as was said in the second text should not marvel or disturb us because even Jesus whom we worship and serve today faced more trials and persecution than we did, and so did the prophets who were before us (Matt 5:12).
However, in everything, we should only look forward to the reward that will be given to us on the last day (Phil. 3:14) as no mortal man owes us a reward for doing good.

Prayer Point: Dear God, no matter what I’m faced with today, tomorrow or ever, help me to stand firm and portray the image of the God I carry faithfully in Jesus name.
