OUR THOUGHTS, MAKE OR MAR US 1

FEBRUARY 23 SATURDAY

Topic: OUR THOUGHTS, MAKE OR MAR US 1

Main Text: Prov. 4:23 – “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it springs the issues of life”

Second text: Psalm 139:23 (NIV) – Search me, God, and make my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.

From our main text, Solomon warns us to guard our thoughts above everything else making sure we concentrate on those desires that will keep us on the right path. “Issues of life” or “springs of life means our entire life.

We are therefore what we think and our entire life is tied to our heart or thought. Thought or thinking distinguishes man from all other creatures. We have therefore to examine our attitudes and thoughts on a regular basis and make needed adjustments that will lead us towards our goal or destiny.

One of such adjustment was mentioned by Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 10:5 when he wrote about bringing every thought, argument, and suggestions into captivity and to make it obedient to Christ. We should choose to examine our thoughts in the light of the word of God, always willing to submit our thoughts to God’s thought knowing that His thought is best and ideal.

This should be a conscious exercise for every child of God bearing in mind that once the devil succeed in holding one’s mind or thought process, he has an upper hand in the individual’s life.

Many Christians are deceived into thinking or believing they cannot help what they think, but we can choose our thought. A prolific teacher of the bible will always advise Christians to always “Think about what we are thinking about”.

When we do this, it does not take long to discover the root cause of bad attitude. Only then will we be able to control what we think about.

Guard your heart and thought with all diligence.

Prayer Point: By the blood of Jesus, I cancel the effects of my past negative thoughts.
