MORE OF JESUS

April Day 5 Friday

TOPIC: MORE OF JESUS

Main text: MATTHEW 6:1(kjv) ―Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your father which is in Heaven‖

John 12:26 – If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also; if anyone serves me, the Father will honour him.

Jesus is not happy with people who do good works in order to be applauded by men. He refers to them as hypocrites. A hypocrites is one who put on a mask, a false face, and performs for the applause of others.

Jesus did not say don’t do good works but his emphasis is let all our good works give glory to God and not on self-exaltation as we see today. Men now want to be revered especially among Christian, even among the clergy.

Self-glorification is a sin in God’s sight for no man shares the glory of God him alone takes the glory for every good deed. To do well is a good thing. To do good to be seen is not. In fact, to do a good thing to be seen is a serious offence. Hypocrisy turns people away from God.

When people enter a church to see God yet they cannot see God because of the church, don’t think for a second that God does not react. ―Be especially careful when you are trying to be good so that you don’t  make a performance out of it‖. It might be good theatre but God who made you will not be applauding. Let Jesus alone be seen.

LET EVERY SELF EXALTATION DIE IN ME

Prayer Point: Oh Lord, deliver me from self-exaltation in Jesus Name.
