THE ESSENCE OF GIVING

June Day 7 Friday

THE ESSENCE OF GIVING

MAIN TEXT: 2 CORINTHIANS 8:12

―For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have‖.

2 Corinthians 9:7 – Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Giving is an integral part of the Christian ministry. And it must be done with gratitude and willingness. Giving in whatever manner should be geared towards enriching another person’s life. That is adding value to that one receiving it. You should not be compelled or coerced but it should flow with love.

We should give ourselves first to God because, when you release yourself first, there is nothing that you have that will be difficult to give to another person. Giving comes in different sizes, shapes and manners. You can give counsel, money, material things, correction, and time.

Understand that everything you possess comes from God’s grace. Don’t give to God as if he is begging you or you are trying to bribe him. Giving should be motivated and regulated by what Christ has done for us. Understanding how gracious and generous God is helps us to give rightly. God’s grace enables us to be grateful for what we have received and willing to give anything within our ability at anytime.

A GRATEFUL HEART WITHOLDS NOTHING FROM GOD

Prayer Point:

My Father, increase my willingness to give so that I will always be ready to give at all cost.
