BE VIGILANT AND STRONG
MAIN TEXT: 1 PETER 5:8
Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking who he may devour: (KJV)
ROMANS 4:20
Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, (NIV)
Live is not a bed of roses, it has thorns. Although God designed life it to be rosy for his children but our arch enemy the devil, is working round the clock to make sure it is not so for us. This is why we must be vigilant, alert in the spirit to know or observe how and when the enemy is working in our life or around us and be firm or strong in the Lord to be able to overcome him (the devil).
We must be awake in the spirit to be able to observe when the enemy is creeping into our territory (our life/environment). The enemy could use the arrow of affliction, persecution, loss of interest in fellowship with God and other brethren or things of God, desire for worldly pleasures and this is aimed at breaking into our territory which must be resisted. We cannot resist or fight the enemy if we are unguarded with the right arsenals.
Therefore, as soldiers of the cross, we must always be combatant ready, wearing the full armour of God; we must be born again (helmet of salvation), live a holy and righteous life (breast plate of righteousness), stand for the truth always (girdle of truth), have an unshakable faith knowing that, no matter the situations or circumstances God is God, he will surely see us through and nothing can change it (shield of faith), use the word of God to face any situation.
Jesus our Lord knew the word of God that was why he was able to use it on the devil when he (Jesus) was tempted. Jesus said to the devil ―IT IS WRITTEN …” we must know and use what God has said concerning that situation to overcome the enemy (the sword of the Spirit) and as we overcome the devil, we will be able to tell everybody about the awesome power of Jesus (the sandal of the gospel). As we do all these, God will take us to a higher ground.
BE VIGILANT AND STRONG IN THE LORD AND BECOME AN OVERCOMER
PRAYER: Oh Lord, release your grace onto me to put on your whole armour to overcome all my enemies, in Jesus name. Amen!
