THE POWER OF PRAYER

THE POWER OF PRAYER

Main Text: Matthew 26: 41-42 – “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation, the Spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”. “He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done”.

James 5:16-18 – Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

The importance and power of prayer, in a believer’s life cannot be over emphasized. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, is our perfect example when it comes to prayer. Jesus prayed until the sweat from His body was turned into blood in the garden of Gethsemane because His mission on earth to save mankind from sins and unrighteousness to salvation must be achieved.

Mankind must be reconciled back to God and for that to be achieved, prayers must be done. We must be a people that pray. A prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian and vice versa.

Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.” God most definitely listens to prayers, answers prayers, and moves in response to prayers.

If we must do the will of God, and to please Him, we must be prayerful, because it is in the place of prayer that issues of life are settled. Prayer is an intelligent discussion between us and God, so we must pray always. The power of prayer is undeniable to those who pray regularly.

When we pray fervently over any situation of our lives that have given concern, the power behind the prayer which Jesus Christ will change that situation of our lives to become something of old.

PRAY ALWAYS IN SEASON AND OUT OF SEASON

Prayer point: Father, let the Spirit, and garment of prayer come upon me in Jesus Name.
