DON’T HIDE YOUR LIGHT

DON’T HIDE YOUR LIGHT

Main Text: Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.

Matthew 5:14 “Ye are the light of the world. A city set on a hill that cannot be hidden.

Jesus Christ brought light to the world full of sin and darkness. As Christians, accepting Jesus as our Lord and personal savior is synonymous to accepting the Light He brought with Him. Having given us that light, it is our duty and sole responsibility to light up the lives of others, of course with the help of the Holy Spirit.

But many a times, we tend to hide that light and want to fit in with the standards of the world, behavioral pattern, dress code, etc. The light we carry, although it has a lot of things to do with the physical, it goes a long way even into the spiritual.

By reason of that light, we ought to heal the sick, deliver the oppressed, raise the dead, speak out for justice and truth wherever we are. That way, people will serve our God. This light will teach us how to be hospitable, how to love (even our enemies), how to forgive (to let go every hurt, bitterness and resentment with no intentions of carrying out revenge on our offenders), how to give (without expecting anything in return), how to offer help even to the dirtiest strangers and most importantly, the light will reflect Christ in us.

Hiding our light is like denying our Father, and let’s not forget the consequences of doing so. We should never allow ourselves to be in such situations that would make us have to deny our Father by hiding our light.

LET’S LIVE OUT OUR LIGHT TODAY AND ALWAYS.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me in whatever I do to always live out the life of Christ in me, notwithstanding the environment or situation.
