A WORTHY SERVICE TO GOD
MAIN TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 3:13
Each man’s work shall become evident: for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. (NASB)
JOHN 4:24 – God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.
God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in truth and in spirit, (John. 4:23-24). God has given us charges; go yea into the world and preach the gospel to all men (Mark 16:15), do good to all men (Gal. 6:9-10); whatsoever you do to those ones, you do unto me (Matthew. 25:34-46), carry your cross and follow me (Mark 8:34) etc.
As we agree to do these charges, let us be reminded today that whatever good thing we do, God is interested in the motive with which we do them not the outward show we put up. He is the God that searches the heart and the mind.
The topic today is reminding and encouraging us to examine our works. Examine the motives with which you serve God. Do you serve him with a perfect heart? As a minister, did you go into ministry because of fame and money? Are you in ministry because of the respect and honor the society will accord you? Or are you there for your belly? Or the material gain you will get from God’s flock? God cannot be mocked.
