TAKE ADVANTAGE IN CHRIST’S DEATH
MAIN TEXT: JOHN 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever beliveth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (AKJV)
EPHESIANS 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sin, according to the riches of his grace; (AKJV)
Do not try to work your salvation rather take advantage of Christ’s death on the cross because it is favourable to our success for the positive gain of salvation. Make good use of the opportunity offered by Christ’s death to make exploits for your own benefit.
When you take advantage of Christ’s death, 6 things happen. EXPIATION; this is the removal of sin and guilt. Christ’s death removes your sin and guilt. His death discards your sin (John. 1:29) PROBITATION; this is the removal of God’s wrath and turns it to favour. The death of Christ melts the wrath of God away and mercy begins to speak (Romans 3:25-26). RECONCILIATION; Sin separates us from God but Christ’s death brings us back to God’s family and you are no more an alien (Romans. 5:10-11).
REDEMPTION; Sin puts a person into captivity. Christ’s death paid the price, the ransom for your sin. DEFEAT OF THE POWERS OF DARKNESS; the death of Christ defeated the power of Satan (Colossians. 3:15). SUBSTITUTE; Christ did all these by dying as your substitute (Galatians 2:20). A sinner is supposed to die but he died in their stead.
