HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE
MAIN TEXT – ISAIAH 48:17 – Thus saith the Lord, thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou should go.
Isaiah 48:18 – O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments, then had thy peace been as a river and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea.
Happiness is a feeling or showing pleasure, satisfaction, joy, and satisfied with what you have. Our God is a happy God and He wants you to enjoy life and also be happy as His children. By walking in God’s ways, you can benefit eternal life and experience quiet and peaceful life that is deep and lasting like an ever flowing river. I emphasize that God has given us power of choice – to accept or reject. The decisions we make can take us to limelight or bring us down to perpetual regret and sorrow.
Genuine happiness is not dependent on external things. When we received God’s smile of approval in the good works that we do then we are happy. We can see that in Acts 5:40-43, the apostle of Jesus Christ were persecuted and tortured, they rejoiced and went on declaring the good news of Christ.
To be happy always, we must learn to keep a sound mind. Meditating on God’s promises and appreciating the goodness of God shields our mind from wrong thinking. A heart that holds unto guilt and grudges will suffer sadness and sickness. Happiness has a way to keep our life moving to the right direction and at the end we live fulfilled.
GODLY LIVING GIVES GENUINE AND LASTING HAPPINESS.
PRAYER: O Lord God, help me to live a godly life that will bring an overflowing happiness and joy to my life
