THE LOVE OF MONEY
Main text: 1Timothy 6:10- The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
Ecclesiastes 5:10 – He that love the silver shall not be satisfied with silver, not he that love the abundance with increase; this is also vanity.
In our main text, St Paul stated that the ‘Love of money is the root of all kinds of evil’. This does not necessarily mean that every evil must come from “money”, but there is no conceivable evil which can happen to the sons and daughters of men which may not spring from covetousness- a love of gold and wealth. All evils in the world come from a certain kind of heart, namely the kind of heart that Loves money.
In the Bible verse( 1timothy 6:10), it is said “the Love of money” is a source of all different kinds of trouble and evil not money itself. Wealth is morally neutral, there is nothing wrong with money or the possession of money. But when money begins to control you, that is when it becomes a sin. Some people, eager for money have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief. So the love of money is virtually the same as faith in money.
The Love of money is what motivates people to lie, steal, cheat, gamble, embezzle and even murder. It also drives us to do all sorts of things that drive us farther away from God. People who have the love of money lacks the godliness and contentment that is true gain in God’s eyes. So we ought not to let money control us but rather be in control of the money.
TO LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVILS
Prayer: Holy Spirit help me that I will not let the love of money put me away from God’s presence. Money will not be my master.
