STAYING FOCUSED
MAIN TEXT – Colossians 3:2 – Set your mind on things above, not on things on earth.
Psalm 34:5 – They looked to Him and were radiant and their faces were not ashamed.
Staying focused means that one should have clear vision, objectives and goals which will guide his behavior and direct his dedication towards achieving them. When one is focused, he decides what he wants on the bases of how he can make progress towards achieving those visions, objectives and goals with the time and resources available to him.
As human beings, we are constantly bombarded with thoughts about ourselves, work, family, friends, finances and much more. Challenges, distractions and temptations which pull our minds away from our supposed to be lives and as a result we derail.
The question is, as Christians what should be our main focus? As a Christian one’s vision should clearly indicate the purpose of his existence. He should keep focus on the right path, things above, God, Jesus Christ, Eternal life and God’s grace. Keeping focus on the right path demands that one does it even if it brings pain.
Let’s pray that God will help us to discipline our minds so that we can pay attention on issues of God’s kingdom instead of things that do not have eternal values. Our focus should and always remain grounded in faith that God is in control.
