PURSUE LOVE
Main text: 1 John 4:7-8 – Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
1John 3:18 –My little children, Let us not love in word neither in tongue; but indeed and in truth.
God expects that we show love to the people around us daily. From my men text, we are instructed to love one another as good followers of Christ. It went further to emphasize that we cannot claim we know God Anne a bonnet gain if we do not portray the character of love to our neighbours.
Love is one of the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Therefore, the absence of love in one’s life means the absence of the Holy Spirit entirely. When we say we love someone, our actions (the way we talk, look and behave towards the person) shows it. Love is expressed by action either by giving gifts or showing kindness.
Once Upon a time, the world was in thick darkness and devil controlled the world with wickedness and hate. Men and women blasphemed God and this obedience to God’s commandments was on the rise. Yet, God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son to die for the redemption of man back to hope and light (John 31:6). Because God loves us, He showed it by sacrificing his only son to die so, we might be saved. That is what Love Is All about – Action.
Sometimes, the people we love don’t reciprocate the love we give them but God demands we show them love nonetheless. It may be difficult but when we do that, we are obeying God and God knows how to reward our obedience. Romans 12:20 – And: if your enemy is hungry, buy him lunch! Win him over with kindness. Your surprising generosity will awaken the conscience and God will reward you with favour.
GOD IS LOVE, WHEN WE LOVE GOD LOVE BECOMES A PART OF OUR LIFE, THAT IS, WE EXHIBIT IT WITHOUT STRUGGLES.
Prayer: In Jesus name, Lord help me to show love to orders even when it is difficult to.
