EVEN GOD BELIEVES IN YOU

Main text: Luke 19:5 – “Zacchaeus make haste and come down for I must stay at your house today”

Matthew 16:18-19 – “And I tell you Peter on this rock, I will build my church… and I will give you the keys to the kingdom…”

What difference do you and I make? It is in answer to this question that we want to address ourselves today. Instead of saying “you need to believe in God”, which is a valid statement, I’m going to say “God believes in you”.

This could be likened to turning the coin over and taking a look at the other side, and instead of talking about man’s need for faith in God, we want to talk about God’s faith in man,
God believes in you because He knows you thoroughly. (Psalm 139:2).

What this means is that God knows your name, where you live, where you work and even your future. He knows all good and bad things about us and yet He loves and believes in us. When Jesus predicted that Peter would deny Him, I’m certain that Peter did not believe that he was capable of doing such given the height of love he had for Jesus, yet He loved him so and to the extent of handing over His church to him.

God believes in you because He sees you differently. When Jesus stopped under the sycamore tree, He looked up and called Zacchaeus by name. This is interesting because the reason why he climbed up the tree was just to see Jesus. Most of the people who looked up into the sycamore tree saw a thief, tax collector and a sinner, but Jesus saw someone who was despised by his community. He saw the real person that no one else did see and brought salvation to his house.

GOD BELIEVES IN YOU INSPITE OF YOUR INADEQUACIES

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for believing in me, I promise never to fail you in life by God’s grace.
