SUNDAY – JANUARY 17, 2021
THY WILL BE DONE
MAIN TEXT: Proverbs 19:21.
“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand”.
Matthew 26:42 – “He went away the second time, and prayed, saying, O My Father if this cup may not pass away from me except I drink it, Thy Will be done”.
God’s will is His desire. It is His counsel. God fully expects that His will be done on earth as in heaven. It is not enough for us to acknowledge God’s Will; we need to ensure His Will is done even when it contradicts our own will. We all have desires, and if we are honest, we always think our needs and wants are most pressing.
The truth is that the cause of all the unrest, frustration, unhappiness and sense of powerlessness in the life of Christians today can be traced to trying to follow our self –will even when it opposes God. Jesus our Saviour and Leader acknowledged the essence of God’s Will. In the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus wanted to be spared from the agony of the cross. However, He acknowledged that the Father Knew the best as we read. Had Jesus decided to pursue His Own Will, all of us would be doomed.
The year has just begun, determine to allow God to be over every situation you are passing through or may experience. Be careful and not clash with God in the contest of Will. You shall one day look back to see the wonderful things He has done.
EITHER GO BY GOD’S WILL, OR END UP IN FRUSTRATION AND REGRET
PRAYER: My Father, my maker, let the grace to abide by your Will be released afresh on me in Jesus name.
