THE ONLY TRUE MESSIAH LIVES

MAIN TEXT: 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 – But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Mark 15:5-6 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. 6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

Jesus followers initially had no idea what we know and celebrate today. Jesus had actually won! Three days later they would find this out when the man they thought dead would appear. And, in so doing, he confirmed that he was no ordinary man. He is God who came to be with mankind and for mankind – Immanuel. And it’s His life that we celebrate today. So when we say ‘He is Risen’ it’s not just a statement of a past event. It is a declaration of a current reality. “He is risen” means: We are forgiven, we are not bound by sin, we have an eternity with the creator God and our identity is secure as his sons and daughters.

The resurrection teaches that believers can have a better life through God’s Son. First, He proved that He was who He said He was. Defeating death validated His claims concerning Himself (Acts 2:22-24). He demonstrated that His sacrifice for sins was efficacious (Hebrews 10:12). A dead savior can’t save anyone. Third, He showed that He gives real life to all who believe in Him.

“I want to know Christ. I want to know the power of his resurrection.” This is Paul’s primary desire, this is what Paul wants more than anything else in this life: To know the living, the resurrected Christ, and to know the power associated with that resurrection. We must hunger for the resurrection power because that is what makes us true Christians. Alleluia, the grave now is empty, The stone is rolled away. And Christ is alive in my heart.

DEATH WHICH HE CONQUERED HAS NO PART IN ME BECAUSE CHRIST IS ALIVE IN MY HEART

PRAYER: Let the resurrection power of Christ give me life abundantly and make me a victorious Christian daily in Jesus’ name. Amen
