PRICE FOR THE PRIZE

Main Text: Luke 14:26 – If you want to be my disciple, you must hate everyone else by comparison—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:27- And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple.

A Christian disciple is someone who has forsaken all to follow Jesus Christ. When Jesus Christ called His early disciples by the sea of Galilee, they left fishing and followed Him. It is yielding our will to the will of the Father, it is not some of self but none of yourself and all of Christ’s will.

The scripture above shows that one can also follow Christ without bearing his cross but that will not make him a true disciple of Christ. There are alot of people who are busy for God; supporting with their wealth and influence but they are yet to carry their cross, these people are yet to enroll in the discipleship of Christ.

The true disciple of Christ does not argue with the words of God and he doesn’t cajore the spiritual things of God’s kingdom. He remains faithful and obedient. When the disciples of Jesus Christ didn’t see Him physically, many left being disciples and went back to their businesses until they had another encounter of conviction that brought them back. God wants to have you as a strong and reliable disciple.

TO BE A TRUE DISCIPLE, IT IS COSTLY BUT HIS GRACE ENABLES US

Prayer: Lord make me your true disciple that you will be proud of in Jesus’ name
