THE SPIRITUAL EYE OF FAITH
MAIN TEXT: HEBREW 11:1 – ‘Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see’.
Hebrew 12:2 – Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God’.
Faith sees possibilities where there are none. Faith calls you to live above sight, reason, emotion or intellect. It enables you to enter the realm of supernatural possibilities. Jesus said ‘all things are possible to him who believes – Mark 9:23
Faith is not rooted in human effort. It is not based on self-confidence and intellectual acumen. Not on optimism or good luck or social connections. Learning religious formulas is not faith either.
Faith is rooted in God’s unlimited power and unchanging word. It comes from hearing the message and the message is received through the word of God. The word of God received and residing within you continuously produces faith in you. No teeth-gritting super-effort is required.
You simply decide to believe what God says and respond to it.
Faith makes God work in your life. To make spiritual progress, it is not enough to read the bible or listen to sermons. The activating ingredient to understanding God is faith. Humanly speaking, your situation may look impossible but when you throw out the naysayers and doubters and believe what God says, you will have good results. After we hear God’s message, we must act on it.
FAITH IS THE ANTIDOTE TO THE FIERY DARTS OF DOUBTS AND FEAR
