BEAR FRUIT UNTO GOD

BEAR FRUIT UNTO GOD

Main Text: John 15:16
Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever ye shall ask of the father in my name, he may give it to you.

JOHN 15:5
I am the vine, ye are the branches, he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit for without me ye can do nothing.

A fruit is the seed bearing part of a plant, often edible, sweet, and colorful. In practical terms fruit represents good works, a thought, altitude or action of ours that God values because it glorifies him. The fruit from our lives is how God receives his due honour on earth. That’s why Jesus declared, herein is my father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so shall ye be my disciples (John 15:8).

As children of God, we bear inner fruit when we know God to nurture in you a new Christ-like quality and we submit ourselves to be pruned by God. Pruning means removal of excess material from a tree or shrub. During pruning process, an expert pruner removes dead or dying plants to make sure sunlight can get to all fruit bearing branches to increase the size and quality of the fruit and to encourage new fruit to develop.

Our heavenly Father who is the vine dresser takes out bad habits in us, he also wants us to let go of things that keep us from his kingdom purposes and our ultimate good. After this pruning process, the fruit of the spirit which is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self control begins to manifest in us. We bear outward fruit when we allow God to work through us to bring him glory.

USE ANY OPPORTUNITY TO BEAR FRUIT UNTO GOD.

Prayer: Oh Lord help me to bear real fruit that brings glory to you.
