Main text: 1 John 4:10 – Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
2 John 1:16 – And this is love, that we should walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, even as ye heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it.
In the world today, many people use the love word selfishly. There are so many lies and errors in the love that is practiced in the world. People love when the love is reciprocated but Jesus Christ taught us the right way to love. He loved us even when man planned His death. He performed many miracles to those who were happy about His betrayal and He ignored our actions but chose to sacrificially give His life.
We love because He loved us first and showed us the way to love – 1 John 4:19. This kind of love we are discussing is difficult to imagine and practice but this is the love that makes meaning in the world – unbelievers take note too. Our selfless love can bring people to Jesus Christ but this is not possible until we deeply connect to the author of love – Jesus Christ.
It is still amazing when you read Jesus’ instructions to us concerning those that hate us. He said that we should pray for them like He did on the cross. We should continue loving in all circumstances. If you do not carry this kind of love, you will never understand this or agree to this love teaching of Christ but this is the power of man’s salvation.
