NO HUNGER; NO GROWTH 1

Main text: 1Peter 2:2- “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”

Psalm 42:1-2-As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Hunger and thirst are natural expression of the basic human desire and need for food and water. When you don’t feed yourself, is likely you won’t experience growth. One of the clear indicators that something is wrong physically is when we lose appetite. It is the same spiritually, when you don’t feed your spirit, you are likely not to grow spiritually. To hunger and thirst for God is the very root of our being and it’s the way God made us. When there is no hunger for the presence of God, it is an indicator that something is wrong spiritually, and if we don’t hunger for God, we find out that our spiritual life diminishes and it dulls our spiritual appetite.

Being spiritually hungry, means you make time for your prayers, Bible and private sanctuary because you know God awaits. Just as your stomach gnaws and growls for food, your spirit longs for God. He satisfies like nothing else. But when that hunger is not there, you notice you are not growing spiritually. Your prayer life is down and you begin to lose interest in studying the word of God and sometimes you feel weak to go for Bible studies and Sunday services. You begin to distance yourself from your fellow believers because you don’t want to be corrected or preached to. You begin to feel comfortable with whatever happens around you that is not supposed to happen as a Christian. You find yourself reasoning like the unbelievers.

THERE IS NO OTHER DEITY THAT PROMISES TO SPEND ETERNITY WITH MAN EXCEPT THE ALMIGHTY GOD

PRAYER – Holy Spirit, awaken my appetite for God and let my heart rejoice over the things of God
