HOW STRONG IS YOUR FOUNDATION?
MAIN TEXT: LUKE 6:48
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded on a rock. (AKJV)
1CORINTHIANS 3:11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid which is Jesus Christ. (AKJV)
The depth of a foundation and the quality of materials used determine the solidity of the building. If you consider the high cost of materials and use substandard materials, it will not withstand harsh weather or pressure from within and around it.
The same thing is applicable to your Christian life. On what did you build and how are building yourself on the solid foundation? Is it built on sand (false doctrine) or on rock, which is Jesus Christ? How deeply have you known the Word of God which is Jesus and Him crucified? You should be careful on the doctrine you receive, the teachers that teach you, the pastors that pastor you or the prophets that prophesy to you because the wrong ones that are not anchored on Christ will collapse.
To build a strong foundation you must study to know the Word of God (Jesus Christ) deeply. You should not stop at just knowing (head knowledge), you must be a doer of God’s Words, you must live out what you know and obey every word of God you hear. In doing this, you will be able to withstand any storm or flood (trials and temptation) of life when they come your way.
Our second text makes us to understand that any foundation outside Jesus is not good enough. 2 Timothy 2:19 says that God’s foundation stands sure. Build your faith on Jesus today and stand very strong.
