WALK ON YOUR WATERS

MAIN TEXT: MATTHEW 14:24 ‘but the boat was already a considerable distance from the land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.’’

Matthew 14:25 – During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.’’

When you find yourself in trouble, do you sometimes think, ‘I must have done something wrong, perhaps I’ve missed God’s will and He is punishing me? Trouble can arise from anywhere and frequently unrelated to our wrongdoing or God’s punishment. The disciples were not in the storm due to disobedience but by obeying Jesus. (Matt. 14:22-25). Not by rejecting His will but by embracing God’s will.

From our main text, we see Jesus making the disciples get into the boat and go, and they obeyed. At times, you will find yourself in troubled waters because you did what was right rather than what was easy, popular and selfish. When that happens, understand that: obedience does not guarantee there will be no storms. Surely, there will be storms and when they come, bear in mind that if, God does not stop a problem from manifesting, He will show up in the middle of it and make you to come out with your faith fortified. That, there is trouble does not mean God has abandoned you.

It is an opportunity for spiritual growth and maturity. Sometimes you will walk in darkness without visible cues. Someone put it this way, ‘when you cannot trace God’s hand, you can trust His heart’. What is buffeting your life today –loss, guilt, loneliness, financial lack, illness, addiction, rejection or what? When troubles storm our lives, we tend to cower and doubt. Rather, let us learn to trust God.

WHEN YOU WALK IN FAITH EVEN YOUR FAILURES LEAD TO SUCCESS

Prayer: Dear God in this year, I receive the power to walk on my waters and I shall remain a victor. Amen.
