THE NEED FOR GOD’S PRESENCE
MAIN TEXT – Jonah 1:10 -11 – Then were the men exceedingly afraid, and said unto him, What is this that thou hast done? For the men knew that he was fleeing from the presence of Jehovah, because he had told them. Then said they unto him, What shall we do unto thee, that the sea may be calm unto us? for the sea grew more and more tempestuous.
PSALM 16:11 – Thou wilt show me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy; In thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Jonah embarked on a journey of life in disobedience and without God’s approval. And the outcome became disastrous – Jonah1:8-17, while the other passengers in the boat wondered the cause of the storm, Jonah confessed to them that he was the cause of the storm because the presence of God was not with him and God was not pleased with his disobedience. We have to be careful to be sure that we are not accommodating a disobedient Jonah in the boat of our life. A disobedient Jonah in your life can bring storms around you.
If you involve in businesses with people that lack God’s presence, then we must be wise and prayer because it is very possible that the business will crumble or not favour you.
It was God’s mercy that preserved the rest of the passengers in that boat. It is the presence of God that brings healing and unimaginable testimonies to God’s people. The presence of God is like the oxygen to man, existing without inhaling oxygen is the quick way to death. So the presence of God in our lives, gives us life and restores dead issues that need God’s touch.
THE PRESENCE OF GOD IS HIS APPROVAL, SEEK FOR IT
