FROM ZERO TO HERO

FROM ZERO TO HERO

MAIN TEXT: PSALM 105:17,21 …Joseph who was sold as a slave… He made him Lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions

Isaiah 61:3 “…To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning…”

Olaudah Equiano (1745-1796) was only 11 years old when he was kidnapped and sold into slavery by the age of 20, he purchased his freedom still bearing the emotional and physical scars of the inhuman treatment he had experienced.

Unable to enjoy his own freedom while others were still enslaved, Equiano became active in the movement to abolish slavery in England. He wrote His autobiography(an unheard achievement for a former slave in that era), he became famous for his contributions towards the abolishment of slavery.

Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers but the grace of God took him to portipher’s house where a false accusation by his master’s wife led him to prison. In all these, the hand of the Lord was upon him and he received divine favour that took him to the palace and he later became the Prime Minister of Egypt.

It is indeed a herculean task to climb from zero to hero. We need patience, perseverance, longsuffering, faithfulness and total dependence on God. Disappointment can come but God will move you from despair to rejoicing. He gives hope in hopeless situations. Our destiny are in God’s hands and not in the hands of our detractors. God is giving you a coat of praise to replace the rags of ashes and pains.

ONLY GOD CAN TRANSFORM WAILS OF DESPAIR INTO VIBRANT JOY THAT DOES NOT DEPEND ON CIRCUMSTANCES.

Prayer: O Lord, lift me up to a place of glory and fulfilment in Jesus name. Amen
